A Postcard from Sidi Bouzid #3
We`re on the home stretch of our holiday and I`m imagining that your diet of seaside shots is starting to become satiated. Before you leave, here is a photo of an illegal and very laden peddler at the beach in Oualidia. This small beach resort is becoming quite upmarket and has banned beach hawkers. This can be quite irritating when the urge for a can of something or an ice cream takes you or a lollipop for your young child. It is all the more unusual given the king`s recent instructions to authorities that people should be allowed to earn the simplest of livings without interference.
Those orange inflatables are certainly a summertime treat for someone.
As always, wish you were here! Annabella

Wow! I'm surprised by the ban of the beach hawkers. He looks like he may have the better of the deal -- his wares are pretty light!
ReplyDeleteWe had these guys on the beach in Mexico too. They are annoying because they don't take no for an answer. But, I agree, they need to earn a living. But, just don't bother me!
ReplyDeleteHow many beaches have I sat on where the sound of a hawker selling cold soda and crisps made life all that more enjoyable. And everyone SHOULD have a right to earn a living. (As long as they dont hassle you too much!) :-))
ReplyDeleteMy kids would go crazy for those orange inflatables! They would probably hassle me more than the hawker would, lol!
ReplyDeleteWish I was there as well!
ReplyDeletelove the pop of orange color!
ReplyDeleteI love orange. Too bad about the ban. sounds like the king is sending mixed messages.
ReplyDeleteA beautiful picture, I love the colours and the angle.
ReplyDeleteI never tire of seaside photos and blog posts...they're always so refreshing and inviting to the eyes. Like eye candy. The hawker's wares are so bright, happy, fun and colorful. Too bad they don't allow vendors on the beach.
ReplyDeleteMy Thursday Themesong Post: Mem'ries Hope you're having a glorious day.
Love the colors in this shot. And you can never tire of looking at seaside pictures! (at least I can't) Great photo!

The colors are fantastic! I know my kids would definitely consider those inflatables a treat!
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing shot. I always enjoy talking to the locals and admire their creative ways to make money.
ReplyDeleteOh my -- can't they make an exception for cool drinks and icy confections? And the inflatables are really cute.
