An Indian Summer

I`m hearing a lot about people experiencing an Indian Summer at the moment.  It`s still summer here but a bearable 30 C, so no complaints.

I could complain about our postman having done a disappearing act with my batting for the Across the Seas quilt. It should be basted by now and I should be doing the quilting so that I can bind it and put it in the flikr group by next Monday.  I`m not.

Instead, I dug out my Kumari Garden FQ bundle and started a baby quilt using this tutorial by Fresh Lemons.  Here are the first 6 blocks.

Clearly I was thinking girls when I started making this but as time went on I became less and less thrilled with the pink blocks and I`m drawn to the green and blues one.  So my question dear readers is, do I make two quilts separating the colourways or keep it looking bright...and pink? I`m not sure a baby would get a good night`s sleep with this mix but a playmat might be fun.

My favourite block is top middle.  I could make a whole quilt of  blocks of fussy cuts with wide borders.

You know that lovely feeling when you unexpectedly come across something you`ve lost.  Well yesterday I was rooting through one of the many unpacked boxes from our summer move and found my ipod in an old makeup bag. I know.  Go figure.  I hadn`t seen it since Christmas.

So today I was listening to the album 21 by Adele. Got to love the Adele.

There are still a couple of days left to enter the giveaway.  I am blown away by the phenomenal response - thanks everyone!

  1. The quilt blocks look fabulous. I think a baby will love all colours, so you should probably make what you like best yourself!

Adele’s Album 21 is one of my favourites. She’s sooo talented!

  2. Babies really don't care, sometimes parents do! I think I'd separate them, the blue green are so peaceful and the pink orange and vibrant.

  3. my fave is the one below. That fabric is lovely. I think its way too pretty to lie around on the floor, it will be a beautiful cot quilt

  4. Hmm, I love them together, but I'm a momma of 2 little girls. I like the play of the 2 color stories.
And my fav is the bottom middle. I love way the border echoes the center. Your piecing is very thoughtful!!

  5. oh I like the bottom middle best!
Do you have a baby in mind (or anywhere else we should know?). I like the full mix.

Finding lost things is the best feeling - I did that when we were packing to move before Christmas and found my watch and best jewellery I'd 'lost' in the previous move 4 years before!

  6. I like all the blocks but you are probably right - the top middle is the one I like best.
How lucky was that finding your ipod and Adele is great - love her voice.

  7. I like your idea of separating the colours but think that you should still keep touches of each colour in the other to add a little contrast and extra interest. Love the fabrics.

  8. I love the bottom middle - I also like the way the scale of squares differs and I think the mix of colour is lovely too.

  12. Ooh, love the warm/cool colourway here, they're fab!

Sorry about the postie absconding with the batting. I'm running rather behind myself, but I'm chanelling that Little Engine That Could and trying not to remember that I'm out on Friday night, and will be losing a day's sewing (when I should be more worried about losing a couple of friends from work!)

  13. My fav block is bottom middle, but then I would definitely say it was for a girl.
If you pass me up in # of followers I might have to de-friend you! Ha! Ha! NEVER!

  14. I've always read that babies respond really well to bright, bold colors. Hope the batting arrives soon. That would be a bit annoying. :/

I love Adele - listen to this song quite a bit, too. :)

  17. I'm just amazed at your quilting talent -- I think it looks great now, but I know what it's like to want to tweak something to make it better in your mind. :)

PS - I tagged you for The Versatile Blogger Award on my blog today. If you don't participate in awards or memes, that's perfectly fine. Just wanted to let you know. :)
