Across the Sea Quilt Top in Parisville |
If a bad workman blames his tools then I`m a bad workman.
Against the odds I managed today to finish piecing the top of my Across the Sea quilt top.
My late 1980s machine wasn`t in the mood.
She had tension problems...
...which made me have tension problems.
The house was...tense.
She`s being retired.
She`s going to Sunnyside Retirement Home for Sewing Machines.
I`ve ordered a new machine.
She`s leaving England today.
Bon Voyage new machine...come quickly.
* thank you to those of you who recommended machines. I`m going with a model recommended by lovely Flying Blind who clearly isn`t a bad workwoman and doesn`t blame her tools. In fact, she loves her machine. I`m sure I will too. Thanks Hadley.
Linking up with Sew Modern Monday.
Just beautiful!! Love that pattern.
ReplyDeleteUh-oh, please don't hold me responsible if it all goes wrong!!
ReplyDeleteYour quilt top looks so lovely and goes really well with your tiles! Clever!
its looking really great, loving the colours.
ReplyDeleteDid you see that the next post is up already!!!!
THis looks beautiful. Weel done. How exciting- a new machine, I'm sure that will make things alot easier!
ReplyDeleteYour quilt is looking good. Hope you enjoy your new machine. I have an old 'new home' machine which I got back in the 1980's when I first got interested in sewing. I'm wondering if it is going to work when I get back into it.
ReplyDeleteHello Annabella
ReplyDeleteyou are an absolute artist to me - all those little pieces you must have been cross eyed by the end.
oh - how exciting a new sewing machine - I love the thought of getting a new machine :)
have a wonderful day and you have done a great job - really that is beautiful.

Well done on the completion despite the stubbornness of the retired machine!
ReplyDeleteBring on the new machine and the chance to blame Hadley for any mistakes. Perfect combination!! I am sure said machine will be great.
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful! I sure do love me some Tula! :) Thanks for linking up to {Sew} Modern Monday and have a great week!
ReplyDeleteokay, I visited Ms. Flying Blind and didn't find any clues as to which machine you decided on. I so know what you mean about the tension getting mucked up. that is the number one reason why I don't look forward to getting out my own machine! but mine is pretty old, though it hasn't seen much use through the years, really. your quilt is gorgeous! my sister just retired from her librarian job of 35+ years, and she's looking for hobbies. quilting is something she's experimenting with, and I'm happy about that. perhaps I'll get one of her cast-offs!!! happy day to you Annabella.
ReplyDeleteFantastic, Anabella - a really gorgeous quilt - what talent you have. Hope your dear work horse of a machine enjoys a happy retirement :)
ReplyDeleteOh, I've had that tension fight before and its never pretty! Mine was with a WWII-aged Singer and I was ready to toss it out of the second story window. If only I could lift the stinker....
ReplyDeleteYour quilt is absolutely beautiful. I haven't seen one in this QAL using similar colors, which makes yours extra pretty :)
Love the fabric Annabella - it's gorgeous! Have fun with your new machine - what did you decide on in the end?
ReplyDeleteIt's *gorgeous*!!! I can't wait to hear about the new machine...I hope you have loads of fun with it.
ReplyDeletelove your work, the parisville looks amazing!
ReplyDeleteA really fabulous quilt Annabella. I love the colours - don'nt know how you did it with the tension playing up.

ReplyDeleteLove the colors and pattern.

Such clever commentary for a lovely quilt. It was worth it. The last quilt I made with my old machine is still together after many tension problems. Hope that helps.
ReplyDeleteXOXO
Lovely fabric choice! This will be beautiful despite machine waywardness!
ReplyDeleteOOO! What a beautiful quilt top you've made there! The fabric choice really makes it pop, doesn't it?
ReplyDeleteI hope your new machine comes quickly and that you love it. I made the mistake of buying my machine before I got into quilting, so the throat space is tiny. oops...
Annabella, it's beautiful! I love how you did the border, the perfect touch!
