So here are my sewing resolutions for 2012.
1. Make my mum`s birthday quilt for her birthday in July ( um, 2011) using these Kaffe Fasset fabrics.
I need to commit to a pattern and get cutting, and not be afraid that she won`t like it, which takes me on to Resolution No.2
2. Be more confident of my own ability!
3. Conquer my FOMO (fear of missing out) and not join in every swap or QAL going. I love swaps and QALs but they do demand time not only on the sewing machine but away from it on flikr and blogs and that`s time away from the little guy.
4. Master the quarter inch seam! Today I made this Starflower block for the do. Good Stitches Charity Bee. It`s come up about a quarter inch too small and so I`ll have to do another and this one will join the growing mound of orphan blocks who are a little bit too small or a little bit too big, before being sashed and joined together (somehow).
5. Make a quilt using the orphan blocks.
6. Try something new, perhaps an art mini quilt or some applique.
7. Join in the humungous Swoon-along (almost 500 members!) hosted by Katy. I bought the pattern a couple of months ago but haven`t used it yet. What fabric to use? I would like to use my Lark, but will have to do a test block to see how the large designs work.
8. Go on a fabric diet and use the stash as much as possible. It`s not a huge stash by any means but there`s enough to be used. Only stash builders will be allowed.
9. Make a zippered pouch well - I have to master this as I`m in Mouthy Stitches and I`m guessing my partner will demand nothing less!
10. Ignore Resolution No.3 and join in the beautiful Made in Cherry QAL.
11. Save me from myself!
make your mom the swoon quilt with the Kaffe fabrics...two birds with one stone. You'll just need to pull more fabrics from the stash or ...hmm, buy more!
ReplyDeleteI want to do the Cherry QAL too!
You make beautiful and wonderful things. Your mom will love the quilt you make her. Enjoy the process and your confidence will built.
ReplyDeleteJoyful quilting.
enjoy swooning at the mo i am just watching from the sidelines.......good idea from diane to swoon for mum !!!
ReplyDeletei have looked at the cherry along too :))
enjoy !!
Oh I like Di's idea of the swoon with KF. That would be beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThat KF fabric is gorgeous, you had better do as you are told and swoon with it!
ReplyDeleteHi there!
ReplyDeleteSorry I have been absent so long!
Love the pink fabric with the welly boots!
lol - resolution 3 is way easier said than done and I'm with you on resolution 2 - I figure we've just got to do it and not worry (again way easier said than done) :)
ReplyDeleteOh I really like your Kaffe Fasset fabrics - love those colours. I'm sure they will look good however you use them.
ReplyDeleteYou are funny!!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a fab list to me! I'm still hunting for the perfect answer to #4 too...
ReplyDeleteLots of great resolutions! I'd love to join in the swoonathon, it is such a fabulous pattern.
ReplyDeleteIt's a good list, just have fun. I love that fabric for your mom, no matter what you make she is bound to love it.
ReplyDeleteI also have the Swoon pattern but I don't have the 'perfect' fabrics selected for it yet (since it will probably end up on our bed). About your Starflower - does it really matter if it's marginally small? xx
ReplyDeleteChuckling! Good luck deciding what pattern to choose for your mam's quilt, I have the same problem when starting with the fabric. It's so much easier to pick the pattern and then the fabric and I've no idea why!
ReplyDeleteOoh good luck, I really need to work on 3 and 4 myself!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for blogging about the giveaway and on the theme. I am really enjoying going round and reading what everyone has said, but it is taking me ages! I LOVE those Kaffe fabrics, and whatever you make is going to be fabulous I am sure. Enjoy everything you get up to in 2012!!
ReplyDeletei love that kaffe fabric, so i bet the quilt will be amazing.
