for a very important date...no time to say `hello` `goodbye`, I`m late, I`m late, I`m late!
We`re back from my SiL`s wedding in Casablanca, which was lovely but I`m up against the clock to get my pouch finished for the Mouthy Stitches swap. We finished up 5.30 am and so we`re all totally exhausted!
So I shall leave you with some photos of the bride and her 5 dress changes so you can feel like you were there too...oh, and my beautiful boy who was as good as gold.
Just leaving our hotel - excited and shower fresh!
...having henna applied (dress 2)...
...the happy couple making the rounds (dress 3)...
...wearing dress 4 and an apparently and unsurprisingly heavy and uncomfortable headdress - an elaborate creation...
Holy cr*p that's a lot of dresses, all beautiful though! Not so sure I'd want to try sporting that head dress mind you...
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your pouch :o)
Thank you so much for sharing these photos. The dresses are amazing, as is all the tradition that goes with them. Is that headdress made specifically for the bride, or is it something that one rents? I know that it is very common in Japan to rent all the elaborate dresses and things for weddings. Did you have a traditional wedding as well? All I can say is wow!
ReplyDeleteSuch gorgeous dresses! I wish I could have seen the henna all finihsed. I have a fascination with mehndi!
ReplyDeleteWow. Thanks for sharing pictures of the wedding. It looks a lot more elaborate than my daughter's wedding two weeks ago.
ReplyDeleteI want to hear all the details. This is so elaborate and I can only imagine how exhausted you all must have been. When you can breath, let's Skype. hugs, di
ReplyDeleteHer dresses are beautiful! That wedding looks so elaborate! Must have been gorgeous to see in person. SHare more pics if you have the time!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the pictures, those dresses look fantastic. I would like so much to have a closer look to the embroideries and the fabrics, this is the kind of craft that you do not see when you visit Morocco as a tourist.
ReplyDeleteAnd Zaki is so cute!
Wow!!!
ReplyDeleteoh my goodness - that's truly some wedding - the dresses are amazing :)
ReplyDeleteLovely pictures! Thanks for sharing these. So it's an all-nighter like they do here in Saudi Arabia! Some of those dresses are gorgeous. Not too keen on that gold headress though!
ReplyDeleteOh I would love to go to a wedding like that, I love all the ceremony all the bling etc. Those dressers are beautiful. Haven't been to a wedding in years, nobody seems to bother getting married these days. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteShe looks amazing, its wonderful to see how other traditions celebrate!
ReplyDeletethis is wonderful ...thank you so much for sharing , what wonderful fabrics!! lol x
ReplyDeleteSo many dresses, all lovely but I really like the look of the first one. The bride looks lovely in them all -and let's face it that's what is important.
ReplyDeleteThe headdress looks a tad uncomfortable though!!!
Your son looks very cute - as usual :))
Sounds as if you all had a great time.
Good grief, that is a beautiful child!! And so well behaved too, bless his wee socks.
ReplyDeleteI'd love some more details on the why's of the five dresses and the henna and stuff. Other culture's bonding ceremonies are always fascinating!! But yes, the bride was beautiful and I have to say, being carried to your nuptials in a mini temple beats an old mercedes any day of the week!! *g*
What fabulous dresses, amazing photos and a great experience! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteYour boy looks so cute!! and very proud too. What's with all the dresses? I'm thinking there is some cultural reasoning rather than a bride that just couldn't make up her mind which dress she wanted?
ReplyDeleteWow is all I have to say about that! 5 dresses? Partying till 5 am? What? Why? etc
ReplyDeleteThat's an awful lot of wedding dresses! My wedding dress lasted till about 9.30, when I finally conceded I was going to fall out of it if I didn't go and change!! I only had jeans with me ;)
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had a fab time!!
Wow, thanks for sharing these - those dresses are stunning, the whole 530am thing.. you're a much stronger woman than I! good luck with your pouch!
ReplyDeleteWhat an event, I too want to know about the dresses, does she keep them or are they rented/borrowed? One would have to be so patient to be such a bride and she looks beautiful in each picture.
ReplyDeleteShe looks like she should be royalty.
ReplyDeleteWho are those trust worthy men carrying her in? Don't know that I would trust my brothers with a job like that. They'd be rocking the boat for sure.
What lovely dresses. Would you mind sharing more of why five dresses and all the events/cultural things that take place in this wedding?
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing.
Annabella, First of all - your name is gorgeous! Thank you for sharing the photos. For a Texas girl, it is just so fun to see where other quilters live and travel.
ReplyDeleteWow what a lot of outfits to be changing into. That 4th dress damn no wonder she was sitting down!
ReplyDeleteThe dresses are beautiful - as is the bride! And Zaki is adorable - such a handsome and appealing boy!
ReplyDeleteit was beautiful!!! thank the lord we don't have to have that many beautiful dresses
ReplyDeleteThe wedding and dresses are amazing and lovely! Is the wearing of the five dresses traditional? Can you tell us more about the tradition? (assuming of course that it is tradition.) ~ Lynda
ReplyDeletegreat photos Annabella, what gorgeous dresses altho I don't envy her the headress.
