I know you have heard a gigillion times before how great these are to make. Well that`s because they are. Here are a couple of my favourite blocks so far.
This muted blue and green one. The first grannie I made.
...and I`m fond of its neighbour, this green and orange one too.
The lazy side of me is tapping me on the shoulder and suggesting that I lay them in a chequerboard design like this...well almost like this...blogger has turned the photo round.
...with perhaps a fun solid...what do you think? This is a happy scrappy quilt...and I`m thinking something fun. Any suggestions? No immediate decisions needed yet as I have a way to go yet but it`s fun playing!
Love the scrappiness of your Granny Squares. I‘ve made some and they are addictive, aren’t they?
ReplyDeleteThat would be very fun. What if you put tiny grannies with solid borders in the open spaces?
ReplyDeleteLove your Granny Squares. They will look good in any layout, but I kinda like the every other block. Lets each of the GS show off without getting lost.
ReplyDeleteScrappy grannies makes me think of fighting old ladies!
ReplyDeleteThey look lovely - I want more though!
I Love all of these grannies
ReplyDeleteI love the look of the quilts with a lot of white sashing or open space in them using this block. I am not sure how much longer I can resist them.
ReplyDeletei agree-- they need something in between them so each can be appreciated by itself (herself?). I vote for either sashing or blocks. I may have to start some, these are really pretty, esp the pink & green one, and the blue & green one and.....
ReplyDeleteI like the grannies all together altho I like the sound of Cindy's idea.
ReplyDeleteThese are on my to do list too.(well, I reckon it's compulsory now)
Well I would either go with your idea but a big busy patterned print instead of a solid
ReplyDeleteOR
make them into one big granny square quilt top, with the grannies in the places of the patterned squares and white to fill the rest - does that make sense?
My suggestion is similar to Cindy's. What about setting smaller squares of checked fabric inside a solid border? And setting them 'on-point'? Whatever you decide, they are great! Not sure I can resist for much longer either!
ReplyDeleteThe checkerboard would look great :o)
ReplyDeleteYour colours are so pretty. I love the checkerboard with a solid idea. I think the solid will keep it fresh and modern... and I'm seeing a gorgeous shade of pink but then that might not be for you so how about a lovely neutral in a stone colour?

I like the golf jumper idea!
ReplyDeleteThey look great! I've made mine into baby quilts using 6 in each! The original quilt I saw used 20! Other people have used 9 or 12 each making quilts!
ReplyDeleteSashing them really sets them apart..They would look great with some solid colours! =D
From a practical point of view, adding either wide sashing or alternate plain blocks will avoid having to match all those funny, lumpy little points. Sashing will give you floating grannies... maybe they're on drugs?
ReplyDeleteThe scrappy granny is looking great! What a lovely set of blocks you have to play with :)
ReplyDeleteLove your grannies! I would go with massive borders or chequerboard, but probably because I am lazy.
ReplyDeleteThey are absolutely brilliant!! Loving your granny blocks, they are going to make one fabulous quilt.
ReplyDeleteYou need to start checking for grey hairs now...all those granny square will cause a few to pop up. They are fun, and addicting.
ReplyDeleteI love your grannies - good luck with the design decision!
ReplyDeleteHadley's smarter than me and I am with her idea.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! I've not seen this quilt block design before - it's very effective :)
