Curious Nature by Parson Grey |
Here it is chilling on the kitchen floor. To make it a little bigger, I added a 5 inch border of the Herb solid (I wish I had gone slightly bigger) and then I just had to add a scrappy border. You know me - I love a scrappy border...as you can see from my header!
So there you have it. It needs a good press and a lot of threads pulled out. There will be a brief hiatus on this one as I have no batting or backing fabric for it and may take it with me to England next month. There`s no worry. It`s hotting up here and as this is for the hubster, he won`t be using it until the end of October at least! Any suggestions for the binding? I feel it needs a pop. A manly pop.
I`m waiting on so much post you wouldn`t believe. Bee blocks, fabric, lovely winnings...the usual. I did however have a lovely start to the week with a win over at Lynne`s yesterday...
Stunning Stained!
ReplyDeleteOrange binding?
Love the Stained top! Not sure about binding though! Will the paper piecing bug bite?? Good luck!
ReplyDeleteStained looks wonderful. Is there a stronger shade of the moss green you used for the sashing that you could use for the binding? And yippee for the win.
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful, Annabella! And of course my vote goes for an orange binding!
ReplyDeleteWow wow wow. It just shimmers. Lovely. May yet run out of superlatives!
ReplyDeleteI love this! Its fab! I would go for maybe something like an aqua or turquoise binding, maybe something a shade brighter than one of the brighter colours in the fabrics. Oh - and I love that you have that quilt in your header ;-) Gives me a smile every time I visit!
ReplyDeletegorgeous! i love the pattern with curious nature! it looks amazing. and your lines look so perfect and straight!
ReplyDeleteJust love your manly quilt top. The hubster will love it too!

Wow that looks incredible! So very manly indeed. The scrappy border looks great!..Lime green binding perhaps? =D
ReplyDeleteThat's a rather handsome stained indeed! As for binding, I'd go for something like the harlequin fabric, one of the blues, or how about some Klona Jade? Oooh or even turquoise Ta Dots? (I have some I can put by for next month if you'd like)
ReplyDeletethat quilt is seriously cool. I agree with Flying Blind - orange binding!
ReplyDeleteWow, that was fast, and it's absolutely beautiful. I'd probably bind it in a plain deep blue matching one in the prints, in a less is more way, but that's probably dull:-)
ReplyDeleteOooh, loving the stained! The piece I have from that line feels lovely, I can only imagine how a whole quilt will feel.
ReplyDeleteAs for the paper piecing, well, yeah, you might have to start at week 1 and get sewing ;o)
This might be my all time favorite Annabella creation. I love the colors and the manliness of your stained quilt! And well done you on your winnings.
ReplyDeleteMy word for Stitch Tease could be Baking! Hint, hint!
Oh it's fabulous annabella! I think an orange binding would look nice... Or maybe green?
ReplyDeletebeautiful who would guess that greys would look so gorgeous ................orange binding sounds great !! or aqua .
ReplyDeletegood look with the piecing .
Oh thats a very classy Stained! Love it :-)
ReplyDeleteGreat quilt top! This pattern and the solid really work for this collection. The colour that first popped into my mind was orange, then mustard or olive but I can also see how a turquoise would work. All are great suggestions. Do you have a swatch card to work with or will you order some binding fabric blind?

Hi there! I've just found your blog, become a "FOLLOWER" and love your stained piece. The colors you chose gives me ideas for a project I've been thinking about for months.
ReplyDeleteTake care!!
I don't know if your husband is a more subtle chap- if so I'd vote for navy. If he is more out there, I think the orange would be cool.
ReplyDeleteLove your Stained quilt! Love the binding suggestions - a shade of orange might be nice, yes. A black wouldn't pop as much but would be nice too.
ReplyDeleteLovely stained quilt. Not sure on the binding - how about the blue diamond?
ReplyDeleteUtterly gorgeous!! Well done :)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the lovely win!
That is the nicest man stain with a curious nature I have ever seen! Congrats on the win.
ReplyDeleteIt Great! Good Job! My first reaction is to go with the bright navy that pops out from the print that looks like diamonds. I know there are a lot of votes for orange & turquoise -- i'd think where this quilt will be used, and how the various colors would look there, because all three would look good as binding.
ReplyDeleteI love it, including the borders! I suggest a dark blue or navy binding. I know you want a pop but it is so sophisticated as it is now, and I would go with that.
ReplyDeleteHi Annabella, you know I think I'd go for either red or orange. but what do I know?
ReplyDeleteWow! This is gorgeous. I don't know anything about placement or quilting, but this is so pleasing to my eye!
ReplyDeletei love this! the colours all so well together: your hubby will love it!
ReplyDeleteSumptuous Stained! it looks fab A:)
ReplyDeleteThe top is really fantastic, and its great you had such an enjoyable time putting it together. Thanks as always for sharing. As for the binding question, my first thought was a nice deep red or Burgundy. My second was for a nice deep navy. I'm sure you'll figure something great put though!

ReplyDeleteI love your quilt! I'd be tempted to go for a navy or dark grey binding but I think a turquoise would add a nice pop...whatever you choose will be fabulous!
ReplyDeleteAnnabella this is fantastic! The pattern really suits the fabrics you chose and the colors are very nice and subdued (quite manly actually). :) The scrappy border is so lovely too!
ReplyDeleteI love this. Great fabrics too.
