Weekend Whim

A huge thank you for all the brilliant suggestions as to how I should quilt my Lark quilt, which I got all basted up on Friday.  I particularly like any suggestions for 'organic' quilting as my quilting is quite naturally wonky organic.

We had surprise visitors of the family variety over the weekend and so I still haven't gottten to the crucial quilting decision yet. I make no secret of the fact that I really don't enjoy the quilting bit.  I'm a patchwork girl and love the piecing process...and I guess that's why I have so many unfinished projects!

With it still ridiculously hot here, we went up in to the foothills of the Atlas mountains yesterday for lunch and some relief from the heat.

The simple cafes make the most delicious tagines and in the summer the tables are placed in the glacial stream so that you can kick your sandals off and get cool.

Here's my handsome boy leaving a sulk on some steps down to the cafe. He is so difficult to photograph now as 'we' have entered the silly photo face season. I'm reliably informed that this phase lasts quite a long time.

And here are some jolly musicians crossing the wibbly wobbly foot bridge.

Hope you had a great weekend!

What a wonderful idea for a cafe! You'd free your toes off here though!

I love whims. The best way to do things I think.

I love to hear others admit their unpassion for the quilting bit. I must admit to being a piecer too. If it wasn't for the fact that once finished quilts are just so awesome I wouldn't even attempt the quilting bit. My quilting is accompanied by a lot of sighing. My quilting motto used to be "as little as necessary", but then I felt the awesomeness of some heavily quilted quilts and knew I wanted that, although I didn't really want to do it. Good luck with the quilting! I threw my current quilting project on the floor in disgust this weekend.

Oh my goodness that looks awesome! I want to eat with my feet dangling!
Yes, the silly face stage lasts for ages. My brother liked to show his belly in every photo for years and years. His belly button is well documented in our albums....

What a lovely place to have lunch! The UK is turning colder now, esp. at night-time! Can't imagine ever being too hot over here! Jxo

I want to come and live with you and eat my dinner with my feet in a stream!

Love the new header! Fantastic spot for lunch!

Relax over the quilting, if you don't stress over it, it will happen a little easier :). Let go of that mental block, set yourself free! really!

Brilliant idea for a cafe location. You don't have to sweep the floors!

But it looks like it is basted, which in my eyes is more than half the battle! That cafe looks a-mazing! How beautiful, and it sounds like it must be delicious. And your son is managing to pull the intellectual/handsome face quite well :)

That hill cafe looks perfect! Putting the tables in the stream is a great idea. And I agree with you about quilting - I envy all those American quilters who casually say they're sending their latest five tops out to their longarmer :)

My son avoids the camera completely ! I'd even be glad of a silly photo now and again!

Sounds blissful! And looking forward to seeing the quilting! Deep breath and dive in!

Is that the Oureka Valley? We had a great day trip out there when we visited Morocco, it was so nice after the dust and crowds of Marrakesh.
