A year ago today (or not! The post is dated 20 January so my blogaversary was actually one week ago - so much for the ticker!), I hit the button with this post. It`s a wordy post but it explains a little about how I got into quilting. Like many people, quilting helped me get out of a rut. Why is that I wonder?
I remember the sheer excitement at seeing my first hit come up in my stats. It was in the States (who still account for the largest reader group followed by the UK , Australia, Canada, (thank you friends), Switzerland (thank you Helen) and the Netherlands (thank you Nicolette)) as well of lots of other visitors from all over the world!
Thank you to all my followers and readers - my mum and aunt were my first followers and I`m so proud to say that I am still in regular contact with many of my other initial followers and have made lots of really good friends along the way - many of whom I hope to meet at the FQ retreat in London this June.
So to say a huge thank you to you my friends, I promised you a fortune...I`m giving away 2 charm packs of the amazingly talented Kate Spain`s Good Fortune.
I love this line and am wondering whether I could covertly enter my own giveaway in an attempt to win them!
I`ve ordered them and they are waiting with my friend Julie at my online fabric shop of choice The Intrepid Thread until we know who will be adopting them. They will then be shipped direct to you, wherever you are in the world.
What else? As this is an austerity giveaway, I made you a pouch made from Lark selvages left over from making this quilt top.
The front |
The back |
If you are not an Amy Butler fan or a fan of Lark (I guess that could happen) then I can make you your own special zippered pouch in the same design but using these fabrics - Echo by Lotta Jansdotter.
I shall also throw in some scraps, which hopefully will be of some use to you.
So to enter the giveaway, simply leave a comment saying what got you into quilting or sewing and add the word LARK or ECHO so I know which pouch you would like. If you are not a sewist, simply tell me something about yourself. No hoops to jump through. If you are a new reader, take a look around and if you like what you see then of course I would love you to follow me!
I`ll draw a winner on Tuesday January 31 at 5 PM GMT.
Thank you to everyone who has visited, read, commented and contributed over the last year! Good luck!

«Oldest ‹Older 1 – 200 of 209 Newer› Newest»happy blogaversary!! I first embraced patchwork as a child, a very enthuiastic sewing teacher taught us english paper piecing and I've not looked back since.
ECHO!
I got into quilting when my MIL retired and took up the hobby. I did not even know how to sew, but I learned. :)

Happy Blogaversary!!! I started quilting as a hobby just over a year ago and wish I had started years ago! Hugs
LARK!
Happy blogaversary! I love reading your blog!
My mom was an avid quilter for nearly 30 years. And she did get me to make a few quilts over those years. But it wasn't until I found out about modern quilts and inherited her sewing machines and stash that I actually thought about quilting. That was about a year and a half ago. I think my mom would be thrilled with my progress.
Happy blogaversary! My mother always did some sort of needlework - knitting, crochet, sewing. I really started sewing in high school, took a long break and then discovered quilting. What a LARK!!! It provides the creative outlet that I despirately needed. Thanks for the giveaway.
Happy Blogiversary! I did hand sewing from childhood but only began using a machine about 12 years ago. I made bags and home decor. A friend invited me to join her quilting guild back in November of 2010 and that totally got me going on quilts! I think both pouches are lovely and would be happy with either!
Happy Blogiversary! I love your Lark bag and Kate Spain is my favorite fabric designer!
I got into sewing as a kid because my trolls had no clothes.
Gratz on your bloggiversary! I have been following you for a while now and always enjoy your posts and photos. I started quilting 14 years ago when my SIL asked me if I could ECHO a quilt similar to one on the front of a Better Homes and Garden Magazine. Ever since then I have been addicted to the hobby. :)
Happy Blogaversary, I love your blog its always so nice to see what other expats are upto and your photos always make me smile. Thanks for the giveaway, I love the echo. I started with patchwork about 5 years ago although i've taken a rest in between when my kids were babies, just not enough time. I wanted a hobby and have always loved patchwork quilts but thought it would be too hard to learn, I joined a patchwork association in France to pick up my language and learn something new :)
Congrats lovely! (the link to your first post is not working btw).
ECHO ECHO ECHO for me!
I got into quilting after finding redpepperquilts blog, and the modabakeshop, and just loving everything :-)
Happy blog anniversary Annabella!
I discovered patchwork in 2005 by walking along some windws of a quiltshop. One quilt that was displayed in the shop literaly pushed me inside. I started, put it all away, to start all over again in 2007 after reading some quilt blogs!
I won’t enter the give-away, cause I’ve just received your lovely price from Paris !(I hope you received my thank you email!)
And I hope to enjoy your posts for many more years!
Hugs))
I had made table skirts for our bedroom to coverup the temp nightstands I had made in there. Then I made curtains to match. Then dear hubby asked if I was going to make something for the bed too because he really liked that fabric. So off to the pattern book section I went. Seen a book Quilt in a day with a log cabin quilt on the front, and said oooooo and ahhhhhhh. Showed it to dear hubby, and he said I like that, can you make that using this fabric, I said yeppers, lets go find others to go with it. Here I am now, some 20 years later, I still have fabric leftover, I bought ALL they had in the main fabric, and the neutral. About 40 yards of each! I wanted to make sure I didn't run out half way through, and I wanted extras in case I screwed something up too. I am almost out of that fabric, been using scraps of it here and there to get rid of it, as I have found another one I love!
Congrats on your blogging milestone! I have sewn since I was a child and made mostly clothes and crafts. About 10 or 12 years ago I saw a pattern for a small Christmas quilt in a catalog and decided to give it a try. Now I'm a full blown quilting addict! Love the pouch you showed, but ECHO is the fabric I am really drooling over right now, so that would be my choice, and I would be thrilled to have it.
My mam used to sew when I was little (I was the only one in my class who had a hand made First Holy Communion dress and I was so proud!) and I used to badger her to teach me. I did a lot of cross stitch as a teenager as well as a bit of crochet. And when I was working I used to help out making costumes for school plays etc. but didn't do any sewing for myself. Then when I was poorly I wanted something that I could do in front of the telly and pick up when I felt ok and put down when I didn't...little did I know how addictive it was and how much fabric had changed (for the better!) since I'd last looked. Congratulations on your first year of blogging - here's to many more wonderful years! Oh, LARK!!! P.S. Not to influence you or anything (!) but wouldn't those Good Fortune charm packs go nicely with my Terrain charms...it's like it's meant to be *wink*
happy Happy Blogaversary!!!!
I'm actually making my daughter a quilt for her 21st birthday with Lark :) (great minds and all :) I started quilting with my grandmothers quilting bee when i was 15...gee i was sure a cool kid :)
so i'll go w ECHO (i have a few Lark scaps myself) Thanks for the chance!
Happy blogoversary!
I started quilting to make something special for my brothers new son (he turns 25 in May) and to do something fun with my Mom.
Happy Blogaversary!! It's fun, isn't it? I got into quilting when a friend of mine was diagnosed with cervical cancer in November 2009, and a bunch of us got together to make a quilt for her - a first for most of us, but certainly not the last - we've made nearly 200 quilts to give to people in need since then! Oh, and by the way - ECHO!
Happy Blogiversary, Annabella! So glad I have been reading almost since the beginning. And that we are roomies at the retreat with LJ!
I got into quilting for my sanity - something of my own that didn't involve young children, and because lots of my friends were getting pregnant. I made quilts for them and those quilts were my learning curve!
Oh, and before I forget - ECHO please!
i started sewing with my mom when i was about 8, but then stopped when i was about 12... all we made were jumpers and curtains! i started back up again when i got my first place post-grad school and needed curtains! that was so much fun that i graduated to quilts about a year ago, and have never looked back. i've never spent this much time with my machine, and i love it! (my daughter is insistent that i put LARK here... she collects my selvages!)
Happy Blogaversary!
I got into quilting through a enthusiastic fellow sewing friend and now is a great hobby.I`m very glad!
Happy Blogaversary!
I started sewing as a child, encouraged by a teacher at my primary school - Mrs Ellis! I've sewn ever since!
Echo!
Happy blogoversary!! My mom started me quilting -- but together it never worked well, too different - so i got myself back into it last year to make my bf his quilt -- thanks so much for the giveaway!!
ECHO!
Happy Blogaversary!!! My first quilt was a sampler, all done by hand, from a class that was a gift for my grandmother. Can't imagine doing all the hand stitching now. LOL...Love your blog...I'd say ECHO...thanks
Happy Blogaversary! I like LARK!
I really don't know what got me started quilting - I've just always done it. I think it's in my DNA. My mom did it, her mom did it, my dad's mom did it. It's been handed down for generations.
Happy Blogaversary! I jut got into quilting really this last summer, although I learned how to hand sew when I was little and sew on a machine as a teen.
Echo...(I have a TON of Lark...)
I ECHO the others and say Happy Blogaversary! I took a beginning quilting class years ago at the encouragement of a friend, so we could quilt together. My interest just grew from there!
Happy blogaversary! I grew up crafting but didn't start sewing/quilting until I finished graduate school and had time for a hobby. Quilting is my therapy for and retreat from the stresses of life.
Lark/Echo, I like them both. Lovely giveaway! Thanks for the chance.
I got into sewing to boost my spirits and occupy my mind after i had to put my dog down 4 years ago. It was the hardest decision I have ever had to make and it mentally destroyed me. One day I just decided I wanted to make a quilt and went out and bought a sewing machine. It wasn't planned or researched, but I'm so glad I did it. It was like mental therapy and it really helped me get out of my funk. My mom helped by teaching me over the phone and I caught on quickly. I really love the Echo fabric line and adore the pouch you made with it! I'm hoping to tackle zippers soon!
Happy Blogaversary. I am so glad we are friends. I started quilting when I needed to use the fabric I had bought for table overlays for my daughter-in-laws baby shower. It is a horrible job of quilting and sewing, but it sure got me started on my way to a lovely hobby. ECHO!
Happy Blogaversary! I am busy planning and making items for too many swaps while working on my finish-a-long projects and starting a few new things. Not much. I love both pouches, so am good with either.
I'm an Echo girl through and through.
What got me into sewing? A lovely photo of newly released quilting book with spectacular color and pattern that was published in a stupid magazine in the hairdressers. Just walked out of there and decided to teach myself to quilt. I never imagined how that little photo would change my life.
Happy anniversary! xx
Congrats!! I'm an Echo girl, myself, but I'm happy with anything. My grandma got me started sewing. She was my favorite.
Happy blogaversary! I look forward to seeing what you make in the coming year.
I started sewing in 2008 (took a couple of garment sewing classes), but it was only after my littlest one was born in 2009 (maternity leave, yay!) that I started to get really curious about quilting. I made my first quilt in Fall 2009 (a "Turning Twenty" twin size for my older daughter), and have been hooked ever since.
Congratulations! Love quilting! and Echo! Thanks for a chance.
ECHO
I first got into sewing as a broke teenager. I had a Saturday job in Woolies and when I got paid (15 shillings for the day - how old am I!) I would wait until the shops opened and dash to buy some material to make an outfit to wear the following Sat night. This way I could have a ne outfit every other week. The alternate weeks money paid fir me to go out on the Saturday nights. Happy days!
Sorry forgot to say- Happy blogaversary!
Congratulations!
I got into patchwork when we learned to do English paper piecing in needlework at school and I couldn't stop!
I don't have a preference on the giveaway!
Happy Blogiversary!! I've always been crafty and sewing/quilting has just been my latest crafty endeavor. I have been a stay at home mom for the last 10 years and have loved having things to work on at home, something that was for me and not kid-related (though I do like to make my kids stuff too!!).
ECHO!!
Happy blogaversary to you!!!!!!!!!!
I have not been following you very long but I enjoy coming here and reading what you have to say, I don't always comment (naughty me)Now lets see I got into quilting in the seventies and it was EPP. Yes a hexagon hand sewn quilt and after nearly 35 years it is nearly finished. only have to baste quilt and bind for it to be done. I will put out the flags that day, but as you can see I am a sticker.
I got into quilting when my DH went on a long overseas business trip - something to fill the time until he got back has turned into an obsession! Echo is my favorite if my number comes up! Thanks!
Hi Annabella, Happy blogversary! Yesterday was my first blogversary as well and I am also hosting a giveaway, why don't you stop by?
What got me into sewing were my kids and a bunch of new borns I wanted to gift with something special... and so I did and I never stopped anymore!
ECHO!
Happy blogiversary! I wanted something that actually produced pretty results since all my clothes sewing attempts stunk! And now I'm addicted to quilting :)
ECHO or lark, they're both beautiful!
Happy blogaversary. I got into quilting a little over a year ago for the second time. I made quilts over 30 years ago, but gave it up because I didn't like the fabrics available and the methods were too tedious for my taste and patience at the time. My sister-in-law got me started again when I saw the beautiful fabric she was playing with and visited a fabric shop with her. Now, I can't imagine life without fabric and my sewing machine.
Happy Blogaversary!! I have been quilting for over 25 years now...I am a hand quilter taught by my mother-in-law; she needed someone in the family to carry on...lol.
I love either fabrics you have...if lucky enough to win...you can choose. thank you.
Happy blogaversay! My mom taught me how to quilt when I was nine and I've been quilting ever since! Both pouches would be cute buti would go with th Lark if I had to chose! Thanks for the chance to win!
Happy blogaversary !!
I started quilting about 2 years ago and I can't remember what got me into it. But I do know that I'm hoocked !! I don't know how I did to survive this long without fabric :p
I'd be happy with both pouches !
Happy Blogaversary! I started sewing when my twin granddaughters were born and I just love to sew pretty, little dresses for them. Thank you for the generous giveaway. I love the lark bag.
Happy Blogaversary! I started sewing when my twin granddaughters were born and I just love to sew pretty, little dresses for them. Thank you for the generous giveaway. I love the lark bag.
Watching my mom create things when I was a child inspired me to sew. Echo. Thanks!!
Happy blogaversary..... I first discovered your blog through the nosy parker posts.
I am just getting into quilting.... and am a bit of a newbie, I have done simple sewing for a while but would definately like to progress.
Echo!
x
Happy Happy blogaversary to you! I am always excited to read a good quilting blog and enjoy yours! I got into quilting when I began a new job and one of my co-workers talked about it all the time. I found an 82 year old lady in my hometown who they called the "Quilt Lady" and she taught me the basics. I have since discovered my own way and techniques, but it is one of my favorite things to do.
Happy Blogaversary!
I got into crafts, in general, as a child. To try to combat boredom, and reduce the cost of buying so many books (LOL), my mother bought me a macrame book. That led to embroidery, which led to Home Ec class in junior high school. Which then, after a long period of just reading and spending my own money on books, to quilting.
I love the LARK or the ECHO, both are very cute!
Oh, what a special occasion for you and your blog! Congratulations! I love your Echo pouch. I got into quilting after being taught to hand quilt by a local group of Mennonite ladies in Oregon. I had grown up loving fabric and handwork. Thanks for a great giveaway! Kd
Congrats on your blogiversary! And I like Echo :)
I started sewing in highschool, and a good friend introduced me to quilting about 8 years ago. I love having an outlet/hobby, it keeps me sane during these years with little kids.
And I now follow you :)
I just found your site through The Intrepid Thread email and have joined you as a friend and also bookmarked your site to check daily. I love the selvedge pouch and would also love to have the charms as I am also making hexagons and in the 2-inch square swap... a friend taught me about quilting about 50 years ago but didnt really do anything with it until about 25 years ago.
Congratulations on your anniversary! A wonderful milestone to reach. I began sewing when I was about 8 or 9 years old, encouraged by my great Aunt Thelma and then my mother. I made my first quilt when I was 13 and it was for my baby sister of whom we share the same birthday and its the 31st! too fun.
Thanks for the lovely give-away!
Happy Blogaversary! I got in to sewing when my husband and I lived with his parents for a summer. My MIL and I took a beginner's quilting class and haven't look back :) I like Echo. Thanks a lot. Here's to another year!
Congratulations on your blogiversary! I got into sewing a year ago after deciding I needed a new hobby, and quilting seemed like the most practical type of sewing I could take up - I'm always cold, so making blankets is perfect! ;)
I love echo. :)
Thanks for the chance to win from a brand new follower!
Happy Blogaversary! I got into quilting last summer because our only son was going (far, far) away to seminary and I wanted a new hobby to keep me busy. I am so glad I took that first quilting class and enjoy the entire process (well, maybe not hand-sewing the binding on batiks - that's tough).

Happy Blog Anniversary, Happy Blog Anniversary-yes that was an Echo for sure. Thanks for your giveaway.
Happy blogaversary! I started sewin at probably 6 when my grandmother taught me cross stitching. It's grown from there!
Echo
Happy Blogaversary! I found you through Julie and can't wait to have a look around. :) I learned to sew in high school . . . man, do I feel old now that I said that! Thanks for a chance at your awesome giveaway.
I just liked the "look" of quilts and took my first quilting lesson in 1981, a couple months before my third child was born. Didn't do a lot of quilting until retirement!
Do like the Echo fabric!
As a newlywed, I had a new sewing machine and not a clue how to use it -- and then Christmas was coming, and I did not have enough money for gifts. I began madly sewing, taught myself to machine applique with satin stitch, and made my first potholders. This was 1970. (Shhh...)
I got into quilting as a creative outlet. I was designing jewelry, but this is better for me. ECHO!
Happy Blogaversary! I started quilting because the teacher that was supposed to teach my smocking class was sick. I have never looked back. I love your pouches and really, really love Echo.
My mother used to sew for my sister and myself, so it was normal to pick up a needle and start sewing.
I prefer little project, I was thinking today that I have 2 unfinished patchowrks waiting for me...
Annabella, congratulations on your bloganniversary, you know how much I like coming here, reading your posts and looking at your pictures.
(By the way, ECHO would be my choice.)
HAPPY BLOGVERSARY!
I'VE BEEN STITCHING SOMETHING AT THE FEET OF MY MOTHER,GRANDMOTHER,AUNTS SINCE I CAN REMEMBER! LOVE TO DO EMBROIDERY,HAND AND MACHINE STITCHING AND QUILTING.
THANK YOU FOR SHARING!
Happy Blogaversary. I started quilting by chance almost three years ago and I can't live without it anymore.
Lark it is.
Happy Blogaversary Annabella. My mother taught me to sew when I was young. I made my first "quilts" for my Barbies. I started for real a few years ago to make sure my boys had quilts to hold on to and pass down. Definitely LARK. Thanks for the chance.
Angie
Happy blogaversary!!!! I first started sewing when I was a kid, and then when I got married my MIL asked me to mend a quilt for here, I liked the quilt so much, that after mending hers, I made me one like it and have never looked back.
I love the ECHO bag. Thanks for having a giveeaway.
Happy Blogaversary!! ECHO I started quilting after seeing so many quilts I wanted to make! Thanks for the chance to win!!
Happy Happy Blogaversary!! :) How fun! LOVE the Echo, but either is lovely. You are so kind! :)
I started sewing in Jr. High - home-EC class. But I started quilting when I was prego with my oldest. My Step-mom is a quilter and taught me how so I could make one for my oldest. Then I had to make one for all the rest as they came along. Then I found more of the modern quilting style and am now addicted!! :) LOVE it! I also sew lots of other things, but quilting takes most of my time. ;)
My Nana taught me the basics of sewing when I was a girl. Fast forward 20ish years and I am back to what she taught me, as well as learning a few new skills. I adore quilting! There is something teraputic about watching pieces of fabric join together to create a masterpiece that will be cherished! I'm trilled to be a new follower :) And while I do like "Lark", I LOVE "Echo"! :)

Congrats on your blogaversary !!! I'll bet you are hearing ECHOs of that today! LOL
I got into quilting after a work injury left me on disability. I have long sewn clothing, etc, but never got into quilting. My wonderful sisters-in-law are quilters and they taught me how.
I was a nurse and used to being and feeling useful and productive. I struggled for a long time with loss of my personal identity and feelings of self-worth.
Then I discovered quilting and, more importantly, quilting for a cause, and that changed my world. I now create quilts for those who are having chemo, dialysis and other health care issues that a quilt could serve to warm and comfort. I also make them for our military and any other reason that comes to my attention that makes my heart say, "that person needs a quilt".
I cannot and will not call this charity quilts as so many do, because I get as much or more out of it as the recipient does.
I try to keep my work here in my local community but never hesitate to jump on the wagon when I become aware of a special need somewhere else.
Happy Blogversary! What a great giveaway! I just came across you're blog today viaDiane at Random Thoughts. I have been sewing since I was about 10, and grew up watching my grandmother quilt. About 3 years about, a dear friend made a lovely quilt, California Dreaming, I was intrigued and had to learn. We have many lovely quilts around our home, due to my husband's mom and MamMa's quilting. I see why so many people quilt and become addicted to it! It has been a LARK for me! (a merry, carefree adventure; frolic; escapade).

ECHO! Please
I got into quilting about 11 years ago when a neighbor lady invited me to a class at her church. I loved it and have not looked back, and she hated it. I recently asked her if she ever finished the quilt we started in that class, she had not! So it has recently come into my possession, and I am finishing it for her.
Congratulations!
I did an 'O' Level in Dress! And I thought I invented quilting when I sewed some fabric samples together a couple of years ago!!
How can I choose between selvedges and Echo?
Oh, OK, Echo please and thank you.
THanks for the chance to win! I just started sewing last summer. I have taught myself using various blogs and books!
Happy Blogaversary! I discovered your blog through our mutual favorite online fabric store and fabric lady. What a great giveaway. I am brand new to quilting and am working on my third quilt top. I haven't gotten up the courage to finish them though. I was introduced to quilting this summer when my sister, knowing I adore fabric, bought me the prettiest fat quarter bundle by Red Rooster Fabric. I thought I shouldn't just let this wonderful gift sit around, so I jumped into quilt-making head first and I fell in love. I love the ECHO fabric. I'm on my way to look for some right now. Thanks for the giveaway! :)
Congratulations!
I can't remember how I got into sewing, just did what my mum did, quilting though I think was inspired by Kaffe Fassetts work! Love the Lark selvedge purse, I collect selvedges and have used them to make journal covers, but now have more to use up.
thanks for the great giveaway
I got into quilting trying to ECHO what my Aunt was doing! Then, once I was making my own quilts, I realized how icky hers were. LOL! She made quilts out of peach colored satin..... :)
A few years later, I met a woman, who would later become my sister-in-law, when she was teaching a quilting class. She is the one that truly inspired me to follow my crafty dreams!
:)
ECHO!
Happy Blogaversary to you. Always an exciting time. I make most of my children's clothes so basically I have to sew to make a living. Its a good thing I enjoy it a lot. Other then sewing I also love embroidering and making baby blankets. Thanks for the chance
Hugs, Rosalee
Happy Blogaverary!
I like the Echo fabric. I'm not a quilter but I do sew tote bags, therapy pillows, walker/wheelchair bags for my group, World of Charity Stitching. I would love to win some fabric for my group.
I'm already a follower.
Thanks,Peggy

Congrats on your blogaversary!
I've dabbled in sewing clothes and such before, but I am just learning to quilt. Or at least I feel like I am. I did make a baby quilt in high school for Project Linus - tied that one.
If I win I would like Echo - love the other pouch you made from it too!
Happy Blogaversary! I'm just beginning my first quilt. I was never interested in traditional quilting, but the modern style of quilting I'm seeing lately really grabs me. The colors, shapes, "wonkiness", etc. Thanks for the chance to win. ECHO!
Best Wishes! I started quilting in Home Ec. at high school. Made my first quilt and I was hooked.
I like the Echo. Thanks for this.
congrats on your blogaversary! as a child i made doll blankies, then as a mom-to-be, i made a baby blankie and a big quilttop. then, almost fifty years later, i was widowed, had a bout with cancer, and to cheer me up, my sis suggested i take up quilting. now i'm happy as a 'lark', cutting and sewing, making things to giveaway.
ECHO please!! :)
HAPPY BLOAVERSAY!!! am goin' to become a follower, soon as I leave my Comment! What a neat Blog you have!

I started quilting after a trip to Lancaster PA. I love the Lark purse ...adorable.
HAPPY BLOGIVERSARY!! Beautiful charm pack! I would so love to have them. I started sewing 44 yrs. ago when I joined a club called 4-H. It was created to help children learn how to cook, sew, can food, and do all sorts of other home crafts. I've been sewing ever since. It's been a very relaxing and creative outlet. I really like the ECHO pouch. Very retro. Thanks for the chance!
Congrats on a milestone! Popping in from Intrepid thread and of course I'll follow you. You're welcome to visit my blog if you're interested as well.
Happy Blogiversary! I think that fortune fabric is gorgeous. I'd love to win the charm packs. And I think Echo...or whatever on the pouches. =)
Thank you!
Lark!
I got into sewing as a way to get the things I wanted but couldn't afford, your austerity giveaway is just perfect for me!
Happy blogaversary. My mother introduced me to sewing in the late 1950s. And my youngest sister re-introduced me to quilting about 5 years ago. Thanks for the chance to win. ECHO.
happy blogaversary to you ,i have been following you for a little while now,i sewed when the boys were small then nothing till about a year ago so you have encouraged me along with the others that i have "met" online ,
hugs to you
Happy blogoversary! My mom got me into quilting. She has been doing it my whole life and when I was 20 my niece was born. My mom helped me make her a baby blanket quilt and I never looked back - HFL (hooked for life!). Lark!
I stumbled into a new store that opened down the road from where I was working four years ago. They had just posted a quilt retreat coming up. It was a fabric shop and the nicest lady owns it. She made me feel like her best friend the first day we met. She talked me into the retreat and I went not thinking I would know anyone there. I found new friends and a couplemthat I already knew but didn't know they were quilters. I now work at the shop part time and make samples for them. I take a lot of classes and am having the time of my life. Best little side trip I ever took going into that store. echo
My Mother and Grandmother got me into quilting many years ago. They always sewed so I just naturally continued sewing. Thanks for the opportunity to win your giveaway. I would love to win the LARK :)
ECHO, ECHO, ECHO
I found Oh Fransson's blog and the rest as they say, is history
Happy Blogaversary! I got started quilting when I worked midnight to 8 am in a mental hospital during college. I sat all by myself in a 'cottage' with 25 patients all asleep. There was a big pile of donated clothing and the patients had picked out what they wanted/could wear, and the rest was going to be thrown out. I knew nothing about fabric weights, types, etc, but just started cutting squares and sewing them together. It was the 1960s, so you can imagine the colors! imagine lol. Loved that quilt! It was perfect in my eyes lol. VermontPines@aol.com
Happy Blogaversary! I have sewn since I was a child, learning most of what I know from my dear mother! And I have been quilting since my eldest son was a baby! I'd take either pouch! They are both fabulous!
Happy Blogaversary!
I was inspired to stitch by all the blogs I was reading while I was ill after my degree studies went pear shaped!
Cute pouches but I really love the Echo - thanks for the lovely giveaway :)
Happy Blogaversary! I started patchworking when I took my sewing machine to a quilt shop, for repairs. I was in raptures over all that wonderful colour and design. For someone who didn't really like sewing, (the machine was mostly for hems)I have since made quilts, bags, cushions..... well you know the story! lol
btw, Lark looks great. :)
Congratulations! I love how the Lark selvages are so well placed - great job! I started sewing when I was 7 months pregnant with my youngest child (we just celebrated his first birthday, so not that long ago...). I think I caught the bug when I did a Google search on baby booties - oh my! there are some cute ones out there - and having tutorials online is so amazing!!!
I did my 1st quilt after I visited my SIL in America back in 2001-where quilting was really popular. I still have it on my settee and it was a tiny hst quilt that took forever.
I will also have been blogging a year as of next week. Blogging has really pushed me with my sewing and trying new things as well as all the lovely people I have met on the way
Echo would be my choice, thank you
p.s I would have been gutted if blogger hadn't let me leave a comment on this blog post (Btw, don't count this comment, obviously!)
Happy Happy Blogaversary!!!!
I really like the lark fabric.
Now I haven't done any quilting yet but I am really wanting to. I've even bought some fabric in readiness to to so. I will do it soon though.
I love coming to see what you are making next - it inspires me :))
ECHO!
Congrats on your blogaversary! Very long story shortened, DH was going to purchase weekend retreat (hobby farm)complete with windmill. So l decide to make a quilt for the farm house. We ended up buying a beach house instead. That was the beginning of many wonderful quilts, and new friendships.
My husband's grandmother made lots of quilts, and we loved them. Thanks for the giveaway! I'd choose Lark.
Congrats!!! I just love the lovliness of your blog. I got into quilting when I moved to the Seattle, Washington, USA area where it supposedly was going to rain all the time and I thought quilting would make the rain cozier. Turns out it doesn't rain THAT much and quilting ladies are the kindest funniest women I know!!!! I am looking forward to playing with some Echo...perhaps your scraps will get me started. THANKS!!!
Happy blogiversary :o)
I got into it looking for clothes to dress a bear... (try and work that one out ;o) )
Echo :o)
Thanks for the chance to win!
Happy Blogaversary! (:) ) A few months ago I believe is when I found your blog from the Intrepid Thread blog!
I got into sewing through my own self-will to sew a t-shirt quilt for myself. It spiraled from there.
Happy Blogiversary to you! I made my first quilt 12 years ago for my best friend's baby. I took a long break, though and started up again 2 years ago after being inspired by all the great quilt bloggers.
oh, and ECHO
Congrats!! I love Good Fortune. :-) I got the quilting bug last September, still not finished my first quilt though! (p.s. Lark) Charlie
Happy Blogaversary! I've been a happy follower for some time. I got interested in quilting so long ago I don't even remember what sparked my interest. But it took almost 30 years (just last year) before I started making any ALL BY MYSELF! All those years I just read, studied, admired. Now ... finally ... I've begun.
I hear an echo, don't you?
Happy bloganniversary to you! My mom started me sewing when I was 7 or 8. Did a lot sewing for my kids. Biggest project was my daughters wedding dress. I have been a quilter for years but really started to do more in the couple of years. Thanks you for the wonderful giveaway, I like both But since I get a choice, then it has to be Echo!
happy blogaversary i have always sewed but my sis quilts and seeing things she has made gave me the bug echo love your blog
Happy Blogaversary!
I've always loved fabrics and sewing and I think it was just a way to make things for my home and friends that didn't involve sizing and zippers and buttonholes!
I do love me some Lark but in this case I think I would go with ECHO!
My mom was (and still is at 79 years old) always working on some needlework project when I was a kid. So, I was able to try all kinds of things! Thanks for the opportunity to win the Kate Spain and I love Amy Butler, but I think I'd choose the Echo! Happy Blogaversary!
Not sure what happened with my post. I'm Gail (malggl@comcast.net)
Happy happy blogaversary!!! I got started because my sister drug me to a class many years ago...which I'll be forever grateful! And I love the Echo! Thank you so much for a beautiful giveaway!!
I started sewing as my Mum did a lot of it, moved onto quilting when a sewing machine needed a cover.
I love the Echo fabric; lark is nice too, but Echo is nicer.
I started quilting when I was pregnant with my daughter. Lark Fan4may at aol dot com
I had been wanting to try quilting but never had the guts. I was actually forced to make a quilt for my sister's mother-in-law. The clothes were of her deceased father as well as her kids clothes. So I did all the amazing research and discovered this amazing friendly world. I am so thankful I was forced out of my comfort zone because I'd be lost without it.
Congratulations. I wish you many more blogaversaries.
Echo! Congrats! I started sewing with my Mom at a class in my teens...quilting followed years later. Can't stop now :)
Echo! Congrats! I started sewing with my Mom at a class in my teens...quilting followed years later. Can't stop now :)
Happy blogaversay! Hasn't it been fun?
I love both bags so it would not matter.
I got into sewing when I was 4. I was one of those hyperactive children and my mom set me in front of the machine and it went from there.
We have actually visited Marrakech (and Agadir(?). I thought the picture in your header looked like something familiar.
Happy Blogaversary!!! How exciting for you :)
What got me into quilting? Well, I'm not sure I can exactly pinpoint that. I have not quilted as of yet (I'm trying to gather all the necessary supplies--fabrics, rulers, etc) but I have wanted to do it for years and years. I was always a creative/artistic child. I've just always had an appreciate for the art of "handmade" and theings you create with your own 2 hands and a little love. Anyway, the only thing that's kept me from quilting all this time, was my fear that I couldn't do it. I'm hoping to conquer that fear this year.
Oh and if I were to win, I'd love either of the pouches, I happen to love LARK or anything Amy Butler. :)
Wow! Happy Blogversary!
I have always wanted to quilt.... so when the kids were grown my husband suggested I look into it! I haven't looked back.
Oh yea I think Echo....
Thank you!
Happy Blogaversary! I started sewing as a young child because my mom sewed everything for me. I've always loved it. Echo
I will Echo everyones comment of saying, Happy blogaversary! *smile* Great giveaway....I am sure someone will be one lucky winner. I Started quilting when I was invited to a quilt guild meeting. Up until then, I hadn't really done much since I was in High School.
Happ blogiversary! I just found you via Julie's blog at The Intrepid Thread. Love your name (my daughter is Annabelle). :)
I got into quilting due to the gorgeous fabrics that were everywhere on the internet. So far I have only made a small quilt that my daughter uses for her dolls bed but I plan on going bigger this year!
ECHO! :)
Happy blogaversary! I first started quilting about 20 years ago. I was 22 and I was given my Dad's mom's sewing machine and a friend introduced me to a quilting listserve. I was hooked! BTW love both but am loving ECHO.
I got into quilting when my Mother was diagnosed with a very rare form of blood cancer a little over a year ago. She was told that she was eligible for a bone marrow transplant but it had to be done in a hospital in another city because they are not done where we live. I am the mother of 4 little girls so for a number of reasons I knew I wasn't going to be able to visit her as often as I would like. I decided to try my hand at quilting. I made her a simple block quilt with blue and red rose patterns. I embroidered the outline of my daughters handprints on different squares and bible verses to encourage her on others. Since then I have become addicted! I love the whole process of quilting and I have made 3 since September. I know there are many more in my future!
Happy blogiversary!! :-) Thank you for sharing the chance to win your wonderful prize-- and I LOVE the Lark line of fabric--- SOOO pretty!! :-) It was only natural that I would become a seamstress... My Mom made dresses, tops, shorts, etc. for myself and my 2 sisters when we were little, but the thing that really caught my interest were the Barbie and Baby Doll clothes she made for us-- so pretty!!!
Very happy bloggiversary! I actually started when I was bout 21, but only did 2 quilts before job etc took over and I did nothing again til I was 31... this time though I was addicted and I just get worse as time goes on... lol
Happy Blogaversary!!! I love the new line from Kate Spain. My grandmother was an avid seamstress. I didn't start sewing until she passed away about three years ago :( I wanted to carry on her tradition. She was not much into quilting and I am not much in making clothing, but I think that my family appreciates the idea anyway! Thanks for the wonderful giveaway. ECHO
Congratulations!! My mom has sewn forever so it was always around as I was growing up but I didn't really get into it until I moved away. Echo, echo...
That's actually a really tough question to answer. I grew up with my English mother and grandmother always sewing, knitting, upholstering, cooking, quilting around me. I don't remember not being able to thread a needle or cast on. My grandmother gave each of her granddaughters a hand pieced hexagon quilt for our 18th birthdays. If there was a fire in my house - it is the first possesion I would grab if I could. It represents so many things and wrapping myself in it is so comforting on my fragile days.
When I travelled in the 80's I collected fabric: batik from Indonesia, christmas quilting from America, Liberty from London with no specific purpose. It's just something I do - always has been.
But my first quilt was for my teenage daughter about 6-7 years ago. I haven't made many - only about a dozen - I am time poor, but I think in quilts.
Sorry I could prattle on for ages. This is a topic I would love to be sitting having with a group of sewists including yourself. I don't have many like minded physical friends, which is why blogland is so wonderful for me.
Lotte
Happy Anniversary!
x
Happy Bloggaversary!!!! And thank you for your help with Quilting for Kids.
Congrats on your big day! ECHO!
Happy Anniversary!!! Whew hew!!! ECHO!
Lark - cute - love the pouch! Nice Job! Good Fortune - pretty colors. Makes me think of those little fortune cookies - maybe mine will read - today - you will be a lucky quilter who wins Good Fortune! :0
What got me into quilting? My Mom would be the one. We used to make quilts back in the day of double knit fabric. They wear like cast iron. We tied them. Now - I am using cotton (I grew up a lot and got older). Thank you Mom - I love you much for sharing your time and patience and sewing skills with me. :0

I watched my Grandmother quilt, but I didn't start quilting until just 4 years ago. I took a class at the community college and I was addicted. :-) I love Lark. Thanks for the great giveaway.
Happy Blogiversary!! While on a holiday in Nova Scotia many, many years ago I fell in love with all the quilts we saw and knew that was what I absolutely had to do!! I love the Echo fabric. I am also a new follower.
Happy blog anniversary. I started quilting when I joined a stitching group and was working on cross stitch and some of the group were working on quilts. That got me started.
Happy blogaversary! I love reading your blog! No one in my family sewed at all! My mom had an old sewing machine, but I was the one that used it. I used to make barbie clothes for my dolls and then went onto learning to make my clothes. THEN I found quilting, and have never looked back. Thanks for the giveaway chance.
My mom drug me, kicking and screaming, into quilting. I resisted for some time. Then the bug bit and there's been no turning back. I hope to have the good FORTUNE of winning this give away. I love both your LARK and ECHO pouches so either will be awesome. Thank you so much and congratulations on your blogaversary!
I hopped over from The Intrepid thread. My mom taught me to sew, then I inherited a vintage quilt top and learned to quilt so I could finish it. Congratulations on 1 year.
! Echo, please.
Been quilting for a decade and love it still!
Happy blogiversary :)
I got into quilting when a friend of mine had a quilting bee for one of her wedding showers - so fun!
Thanks for sharing the fun! Echo :)
I love both the LARK and the ECHO so I am easy.
I got into sewing because my mum and aunt are sewers and I loved watching flat pieces of fabric turn into great dresses, amazing quilts and cute softies.
Now I sew clothes for my children, make quilts and bags and I love to make softies.
Congratulations on your blogiversary.
Happy Blogaversary. I have been sewing since I was a child and I have been making quilts for the last 30 years. Time flies when you're having fun!!
congratulations! i got into quilting when i found out my sister was having a baby- every baby needs a quilt, right?
also, that lark bag is so cute- i may love it even more than the kate spain pack! you are so talented.
Happy blogaversary! I started sewing when my aunt gave me a toy sewing machine for Christmas when I was about 8. It was a tiny taupe colored Singer with a hand crank. It was hard to use. I wish I still had it.
I think the Echo fabric is lovely as a pouch.
Happy Blogaaversary to you
Happy blogaversary to you
Happy Blogaversary, Happy Blogaversary,
Happy Blogaversary to you~~
I love ECHO and thank you so much for the giveaway. My mom tried to teach me how to quilt but Eleanor Burns is the quilty person that got me really crazy for quilts (Thank you Eleanor).
Happy blogiversary! I started quilting after falling in love with the amazing fabrics I kept seeing on sewing blogs.
Also? Echo :)
Happy Blogaversary! Echo would be my choice.
My mom and grandmother taught me to sew and embroider when I was very young. I was always happy to play with fabric! I learned to quilt by watching TV--and then taking some classes. I probably learned the most from Roxann O'Hare (local quilt shop owner - The Cosmic Cow ).
Congrats! I got into quilting in earnest almost a year ago. This past summer it became something that really helped me during a rough time in my life. Thank you for the chance to win such a wonderful prize!
Congrats on one year!! I also got into sewing during sort of a lull in my life. I had just finished my grad program and was pretty burned out on the whole experience. Sewing and quilting allowed me to stay creative while I explored what was next. Here's to one more year!
happy bogaversary. i am sure that word will show up in the dictionary someday :)
i saw these pouches in the mouthy stitches swap and i love the patchwork one with the echo fabrics. great practice runs! can't wait to see the one you make for your partner as i think you are a rather talented sewist.
i started sewing two years ago and i love it! i don't quilt, but i sew bags and pillows and dresses to sell.
Happy blogoversary! Happy blogoversary! (That's an Echo) :) I love fabric, have always sewed and wanted to quilt for years. I finally started about five years ago and it has become a passion.
Congratulations! You are so generous to have a giveaway for your blogaversary. :)
The first quilt I ever made was when my oldest daughter was still a very little girl. She didn't like dolls but she did like stuffed animals, so I made a small quilt with prairie point edging, all in 1930's prints. She is now 19 and still has that little blanket, so I think it was a successful sew!
Congrats on surviving blogging for a year...
I got into quilting when my ex boyfriends mum taught me paper piecing hexies, I did that on and off for years, (and still do) before I went anywhere near a sewing machine!
HAPPY BLOGAVERSARY!!! :) I got into quilting because I was in a rut too. I just moved to a new area and didn't really know anyone. I wasn't interested in my normal crafts as they reminded me of my old home and friends. I had always wanted to quilt and decided it was time! I love it! :) Love your blog! I'm a new follower! Glad I found you! Thanks for the giveaway! I like the Echo. Happy Day! :)
i wanted to make a gift for a friends new baby....and was hooked!! love your blog (found you via intrepid thread) and the Lark :)
Happy blogiversary! When I was a kid, my mom sent me to sewing classes at our local dry goods store. I sewed her white pants! >_<
Happy Blogiwhatsit Annabelle! I got into quilting for adult conversation after having moved house, having a baby...and not knowing anyone in the area so I went to an evening class!
- didn't really make friends there but got the bug for P&Q!
I think all of the women in my family were into sewing, embroidery, crochet and/or tatting. So it just seemed natural for my great-grandmother to start me off with embroidery, my grandmother to get me started with making my own clothes, my mom to feed my fabric addiction and then I taught myself to knit and crochet. I love handmade! Happy Blogaversary! ECHO :)
Happy Blogiversary Annabella!
:) So happy for you.
I got into quilting to make a baby quilt when I was pregnant with my son. Who knew it would change my life so much or introduce me to so many friends like you, around the world.
:)
xo
Oh and Echo!
Happy blogaversary!
My mom sewed, and i learned when i was about 12. I sewed clothes for myself & my kids, and at some point decided that when i retired i would learn to quilt. I guess i knew i would want to spend a lot of time quilting and wouldn't have time when my kids were still home. I took a class at a LQS when my last 'baby' went off to college-- 7 years ago.
I have been reading and enjoying your blog for almost a year-- i think it was the first one i found, via a link from Cherry House's which i found after i bought a pattern of hers. That opened a whole new world of other blogs and much inspiration. Thanks!
clabots at wildblue dot net
Congratulations on your bolgaversary. I did not get into quilting as a LARK :) My mother-in-law teaches quilting, 3 of my sister-in-laws quilt and my best friend is a quilting addict. So when I retired did I really have a choice?? And of course I love it! Thanks for the chance to win a Fortune!
Congratulations on your blogaversary!!!! I got into sewing (crewel, needlepoint, cross stitch) as a young teenager. I have done some crocheting. I've made a couple of lap quilts, doing the quilting by hand. Couple of months ago I bought me a new sewing machine, so now I'm teaching myself to sew through all of these wonderful blogs.. What a wonderful way to learn. I would love to win this prize. and ECHO!
Lisa McGriff from Dothan, Alabama...soon to be from Valparaiso, Indiana!!
Happy Blogiversary! I took up sewing because it is a great creative outlet! LARK!
I made a patchwork blanket out of felted wool sweaters for my dad for Christmas one year. He was very ill and cold all the time. I guess I got the bug then....at the time I didn't realize what i had done was make a quilt--I just thought I'd cut up a bunch of fabric and then sewed it back together--the very definition of quilting, I came to learn :)
p.s. who doesn't like Lark? :)
Congrats on your first year!! I found you through a post at The Intrepid Thread and I am so glad that I did! I am now a follower of your bloag and I would love an Echo pouch if I were the lucky winner (love selvedge crafts!). I am a self-taught quilter (ooooh - that explains a lot!) who just had the urge to take up this crazy obsession!
Congratulations! I just got back into sewing this fall and am loving it. The Echo is calling my name. What a fantastic giveaway!
Happy Blogoversary! I grew up helping my mom make quilted potholders and pillows for our family craft business. I sewed my first pillows while in my twenties, and started my first (and so far, only) pieced quilt while awaiting my first child. Next were a slew of pillowcases while awaiting my second. I guess I am drawn to sewing with big life changes, as I've got the bug again, with much more time to devote this time. Love selvages, but love Echo more....
Congrats on a year! Seeing all the beautiful modern quilts and wanting to make something with them got me into quilting. ECHO please!
Happy Blogersary and Congratulations for reaching this milestone. I've sewn since I was young. I had always admired quilts so when I found out a coworker quilted, well, that was it! Thank you Katie! She started me off. That was in 1990 and I still have that beautiful first quilt.
Thank you and The Intrepid Thread for your giveaway and a chance to win the gorgeous Kate Spain fabric and the darling LARK zippered pouch.

Lark!!
Happy Blogaversay!!
Thanks for sharing.
My Mother got me into quilting. When she passed to the big quilting circle she left me tons of material. However, I still can not resist the new and fresh designs.

happy blogaversary!!
Thanks for the chance to win such a cool item!
I started sewing because my grandmother was teaching me how to sew when she passed away. So, I sew for a way to still remember her!
I like ECHO! :-)
Happy Anniversary...Hope its a great one!! I love the the Echo! Thnaks for a wonderful opportunity!

LARK ~ Congradulations :)
I started sewing when I was 4, my mum was always making something and I wanted to give it a go. Then when I was 12 mum made her first quilt and from then on I've been hooked!
Thank you for the chance to win this wonderful giveaway!
happy blogaversary - gorgeous little pouches - I love the Echo but the Lark is pretty cool too ! and fabulous choice in good fortune :) I only started quilting a few years ago but I've sewn since school - my mum is a quilter and I've dabbled in other things for the past 15 years or so - but one day I saw an hourglass quilt in a magazine and thought I can do that ! so that really was the start - I'd purchased some polyester batting and took it with me to put the quilt together when visiting my mum on holiday and she was horrified ! and made me use some warm and natural batting instead - sooo glad she did - so I finished that quilt those holidays and haven't stopped since :)
Happy blogaversary Annabella!
And many more to come :)
I always admired the quilts my Australian cousin made but never thought I could try somethig like that. I didn't even know how to sew (especially not using a sewing machine). Then I got a sewing machine and after a year of not really touching it, and inspired by another Australian cousin who also started quilting, I decided to give it a try. And now I'm hooked. (And this is much too long a comment)
Oh, and ECHO :)
Happy Blogaversary. Love your pouches, especially the Echo pouch. I started to sew in high school because we had to take a sewing/cooking class. I have been sewing since then...a long time ago.
Happy blogaversary!!! I started quilting less than a year ago, and most of what I've learned has been from blogs and such :)
also...ECHO :)
Happy Blogaversary! I began quilting a year and a half ago when a good friend convinced me to try...I had dreamed of making a quilt for years, but didn't know where to begin. She led the way and now I can't get enough. Thanks for a chance at your giveaway.
I like Echo best.
Happy Blogiversary! I started quilting because my mother got me hooked, and quilting stretches back many generations in my family. Plus, I love it.
Happy Blogiversary. I've always been crafty (hehe) but just over 4 years ago I made my first bag and have been sewing up a storm since then, adding pouches, wallets, softies & raggedies and much later quilting to my repertoire (even though I swore I'd never do quilting!) but one thing I do NOT enjoy is clothes making unless it's for a raggedy!
I'd be happy with either pouch, but do like the colours in the Lark one.
Thanks heaps and here's to many more blogiversaries for you.
Hugs
Naomi
Happy Blogiversary! I started sewing when I found a great tutorial from the sewing blog that draw my attention. Ever since that day, my passion for sewing started and now I'm into quilting.
I forgot to shout ECHO!!
Thanks.
Miss Annabella,
Good grief!
I'm comment number 201!
Will you even see me down here?
I was only popping by to say hello to my faraway friend.
Well while I'm here, congratulations on with your Blogaversay.
that's a huge well done and you deserve all the fruits and riches life brings.
As you know I haven't ventured into quilting as yet, it will be conquered one day.
Too many fingers at the moment in other pies.
Hope this finds you all well,
Have a wonderful day,
loulou, from hereiamloulou blog

Happy Blogiversary!
Love Kate Spain's fabrics!
I got into sewing when I wanted to make my DD a Halloween costume and it spiraled into an obsession!
Congrats on your big event!! Gorgeous zippy pouches! Would love love love to make either mine! Lark! Echo! Lark! Echo! Lark! Sigh, choices sure are tough! LARK it is!!
Thanks for the great giveaway chance!
Cheers!
Maggie
Happy blogaversary Anabella.
I have sewn since my teens but started quilting after seeing quilts adorning a new friend's house, now of course, I am addicted and there is no hope for me.
Love Echo but think it has to be the selvedge Lark this time. x
