Chicken Kaleidoscope

As a girl, we lived in the beautiful Warwickshire countryside. From time to time we kept chickens. They had a pretty good life although there was of course the constant threat of the fox and more human poachers. We lost our chickens to both. While they were with us, they roamed free-range in our garden by day.  They were completely lovely.  I remember how exciting it was as a girl to lift the side of the chicken house and find warm eggs or a chicken `in the midst of things`.

My in-laws live in the countryside and have a biggish garden where 3 chickens scratch around.  Zaki loves to chase after them but they can easily outrun him and he never gets even close.

It`s Saturday and while over at www.picnik.com I had a little fun with them too.

Camera Critters - A Kiss Anyone?

I love the colour of this frog set against the blue of the Majorelle Gardens...he`s quite a beauty and he might even get a kiss had I not met my prince already!

Thanks for all your comments about one or two blogs and temporarily losing my sense of creativity.  They put a smile on my face and made me feel much better. One blog it is then and it seems it was only a creative hiatus as today I won a high five from Heidi for this photo.  Heidi has a new photo challenge which she judges from her porch on a Friday night. Thanks Heidi - I must be first time lucky!

Linking up again for the first time in a few weeks with Camera Critters.  For more animal and insect photos head over there.

Camera Critters - Jack the Chimney Sweep

Jackdaws like magpies are attracted to shiny objects.  Perhaps this one liked this gate into my friends` garden in Herefordshire, England designed by Giusseppe Lund who designed the Queen Mothers Gate in Hyde Park.  He`s very handsome and you have to remind yourself he`s a member of the crow family.

Camera Critters - Ramona

Ramona the dog
The creative gods are not shining on me...I am still having issues with my Union Jack quilt but I hope to have something to show you in the next couple of days.  Fingers crossed. In the meantime, please send positive creative thoughts this way please...to the south of Spain and to the left a little.  Yep yep..that`s it.

In the meantime, I`m linking up with Camera Critters.  May I introduce Ramona - possibly the sweetest, soppiest, kindest  and smartest dog and owner of my aunt and uncle and their daughter Dora. Here she is in St. Nicholas` Park, Warwick doing her favourite thing...well chasing a ball of course.
