My mosaic for Lynne`s Fresh Sewing Day is going to be fairly minimalist but I have managed to tick another couple of essential sews off my list.
First off, here`s my `block` for Kat in the do.Good Stitches Bee. I`m in the Care Circle - an awesome group of women from around the world. This month Kat asked us to make one super big block, which could be made up in to a quilt for the charity she is involved with called Blankets of Love. You can read about it here but essentially the quilts are given to sick or premature babies at the Perth children`s hospital to give some comfort to the families who can take them home at the end of the child`s stay. How wonderful is that?
Kat suggested a block but also said we could make whatever our heart desired as long as it was in child friendly fabrics. So this morning I raided my rainbow charms for yellows and oranges and made this HST mini, measuring 24".
You don`t have to be in the Care Circle to help Kat and Blankets of Love. You can donate orphan blocks, backing fabric, wadding and mini quilt tops, quilts or donations so that resources can be replenished - just click here for more information.
This is a great bee and I love being part of it. It`s my turn in April to come up with a design so I`m wracking my brains as to what we shall do.
I have also started making blocks for the 4x5 Modern Quilt Bee. This is a bee where you sign up each quarter and change your fellow beemates every time, making 5 blocks of the same design in everyone`s nominated colours. I`m in quite a quiet hive this month and while I have received some beautiful blocks, I`m not sure I`ll sign up next quarter. I have enough to be getting on with!
I chose the Four Acres block designed by Solidia Hubbard from the Modern Blocks book.
Despite this being a simple block, my trusty seam ripper came in to its own after I misread directions.
Still, here is caretaker Leigh`s block. Her colours are orange, golden yellow and grey.
...and Amber`s block. Her colours are hot pink, tangerine and lemon yellow.
Now I have next week to dedicate to my starter blocks for the Stitch Tease - an International Mystery Quilt Bee. I should have made way more progress on this one by now and promise to be better next month girls.
Hope you`re all having a great weekend!

You may not have too much to show, but what you've done looks incredible! I love that block you've made. And we all know you have been busy behind the scenes with your Modern Muse series, so you really have gotten a lot done!
It’s not the quantity that counts,m but the quality! You’ve made gorgeous blocks and I love the HST quilt-top that Zaki is showing so well!
Aren’t those bees amazing to be part of?
Sorry, typing too fast.. I meant to say ..., not the quantity!
Oh boy, I’m getting confused... it must be the lovely weather we are having! And I totally forget to say that I enjoy your Modern Muse series!
I love that big yellow block, its so fresh and summery. Well done for doing it for such a good cause too.
March has just flown passed-I feel like all I have done is work and study, but am hoping that the end is in sight!
Love that photo of your wee Z (& the quilt top looks nice too!! :)
We would all like to think that the perfect life is all about quilting. If that were the case, a long list of finishes would make each of us a superstar.
The pictures you share of Zakki tell me that you've reached star status without the finishes.
Well done!
Not much to share?!! I love your zesty mini (and Zaki is sooo cute!!) and your bee blocks are wonderful! Enjoy the rest of March!
Your blocks are lovely and there is a whole week of March left, and you have been in the mountains and entertaining all the bloggers, so not to worry.
Looks busy enough to me! I'm having one of those months too x
You're such a busy & productive girl! Love your new header.
I'm in the same boat! I just barely finished my other responsibilities and now I FINALLY have time to work on Stitch Tease. Well, sort of. I don't really "have" time, but I'm going to fit some things in!!!
Wow the blocks all look amazing! I like all the bright colours! =D
It's quality not quantity - you've made some lovely stuff!
Your HST quilt is so bright and cheerful, just perfect for a little baby.
wow I LOVE your block Annabella!! And that is the CUTEST model in the world - I love the little eyes peering over the top.
I'm really not sure how I was not following you, but I have remedied that now :)
And PS - thank you for your "stunning" (?!) mail that arrived today LOL. On my way to blog about it now.
You're doing great! And I've not even started my strip yet! Next week...
