In Three Words

Do you ever wonder about your style...I mean whether you have one? I don't mean a sense of style but a quilting style.  After 3 years of quilting I don't think I have found mine yet.  When I look back at the quilts I have made, yes the fabric may be a similar style but other than that it seems fairly random. When I look at some of my blogging friends' quilts I do believe I could pick them out of an identity lineup. I don't mean their quilts are the same but that they have a definite style.

I was pondering this today as I made some improv. blocks for the back of this quilt...

and as I was doing some secret sewing over the weekend...

...and as I planned some secret sewing with these new fabrics, which I bought from here.

Chicopee, Denyse Schmidt

How I would use these lovely low volume charms from Laura Jane's swap...

...or this Fat Eighth bundle of neutrals...

..and this Fat Eighth bundle both from here.

I didn't really come up with any answer other than perhaps decribing my quilting style as eclectic, colourful and big. I definitely don't do dainty...in any part of my life.  How would you describe your quilting style in three words?

I’m a quilting chameleon for almost 6 years now so I don’t have one style either.
All I know now is what fabrics and patterns I don’t love. I do try to finish up old projects, because I learn so much from working with different style fabrics and designs.
I love to be surprised when I visit blogs. Too many are predictable in colours and style. Just follow your instinct, I always love to see what you are working on!

Varied

Good question. My three would be;
Wobbly
Bright
Colourful.

I asked husband and he said fresh, modern and colourful, bless I think I have indoctrinated him well!

I think yours is Always Spot On! Mine is Very Easily Led, Straight Line Quilting, Currently Not Happening:-)

I like to think I am always learning and therefore always evolving so my style is still evolving too! Eclectic is a suitable description too! Can't think of a third one!

I'm not sure I have a style either, other than chaotic, but that more describes the way I work!

Awe, I like to think of my quilting like this...

Keep it Simple!

I must admit, I haven't gone overboard in design elements. I just want something I can start and finish relatively quickly. I want the recipient to enjoy it and I want it to hold up to wear and tear. I'm absolutely aware that I'm not the normal quilter...but for this time pressed homeschoolin mama, it works for me. =) I get to sew...and that's what counts. =)

I think my quilting style is pretty all over the place. I like both traditional and more modern, improv designs. My color sense seems to be the most ingrained as I gravitate towards colorful, bright, and higher contrast. I see us being similar in that way. :)

I don't think I have a style ( Quilting or otherwise!) I do struggle with anything on wonk

This is something I have thought about a lot too. Your style is certainly vibrant and playful?! I think my style would be vintage, colourful and hopefully fun?!

I actually think it is a good thing not to be constrained by one style. It is one of the things that first attracted me to quilting and that I still love. The endless possibilities. So you can enjoy making a traditional fabric quilt and then the next time use modern prints in something really out there. With quilting the sky really is the limit in my eyes and I love trying out new fabrics and "styles" all the time.
And now I can't think of three words cause I have said so much lol! x

This is something I've been pondering myself recently. I don't know that I've nailed down my style so much, but I think I'm getting an idea of the type of construction that makes me the happiest, which seems to be more of an improv style. Although, now I've said that, I'm thinking how much I like paper piecing, which is the complete opposite! So, my three words are:
Varied, Improvised and, right now, Infrequent!

I feel like I'm "stuck" in a style. But I try to sew what makes me happy so I usually end up in the same place.
Crisp....color.....simple.

Almost certainly non-existent! (I deleted my first comment as it didn't make sense...nothing new there but it was bothering me!)
